Seattle Bound

Hi there!

I know I haven't posted in a while, and I’m committing to do a better job at being consistent on here. I love sharing my life with others, and I've been surprised by how much I've enjoyed having this creative outlet in my life.

I am SO excited to be sharing my trip to Seattle!

I hope my photos and experience gives you inspiration for the next time you're up in the Pacific Northwest. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at all about where to go or stay.

We went up to Seattle, WA as a graduation trip for my younger sister, Marissa. The girls and I stayed in an Airbnb in Kirkland, WA. To me, Kirkland, is like the Scottsdale of Arizona. It's a clean, safe, and family-friendly suburb of Seattle. You can find our condo here .

Our first morning in Seattle was a wet one. It drizzled for some time, but it was a welcome change from the 100+ degree weather that folks back in Arizona were bearing.

Derumarket was our first stop. Everything about this cafe made my heart happy. The shop's characteristics and details were so clean and inviting.

Can I just say? I had the best meal here. I had an incredible beet lemonade, and a carrot brie sandwich with a side soup of cream of asparagus. Perfection.

You haven't been to Seattle until you've been to Pike Place. The slight local shops, fresh flowers, fishmongers, and the first Starbucks store give Seattle’s Public Market a unique charm.

 Peonies. Peonies. Peonies. Enough said.

As much as I love the deep city, I enjoyed my time far more in the small neighborhoods and public parks Seattle has to offer. Juanita Park was one we happened to stumble upon as we were driving the coast.

This was my favorite spot on this trip. Everything about this cafe... is just so cool. You walk in and immediately see a vintage American flag hanging on the wall.  Add lots of quirky exposed wood, a generously stocked bar, and eclectic people and you have Oddfellows Cafe + Bar .

Zoka Coffee  was hustling and bustling. The location we went to was not far from the University of Washington (properly called U-Dub by the locals). This place brought me back to my college days. We sat in between a group chatting about politics, and a young lady buried in textbooks and a laptop.  I got the sense that is a typical scene here.

Bellevue Botanical Gardens provided this picturesque bridge and so much more, making this park absolutely worth venturing out to see.  For me, it brought back fond childhood memories of my mother bringing my sisters and I to gardens where we would go exploring for hours and competing over who could craft a superior flower-crown.

We had breakfast at Little Brother . Just as clean and modern as it looked on Instagram. Definitely worth seeing.

At 534 acres, Discover Park is the largest city park in Seattle. Though you would do well here to just get lost and wonder all over the park, feel free to make an itinerary to the lighthouse (a perfect place to pull out a picnic blanket and soak in some summer sun). We were fortunate to have perfect weather for much of our time in Seattle. When I first checked the weather forecast a week or two prior to the trip, it said it would be raining the entire time (btw, it rains in Seattle. . . a lot). Luckily for the natives, we Phoenicians brought the sun with us.

And when you spot daisies right off the coast, right by a lighthouse, you stop and take a photo.

I ended my trip with a well-deserved catch-up-sesh with a college best friend. She's a Seattle native, and knew I would love Lady Yum in Downtown Kirkland. Macaroons and champagne. . .  I can’t imagine a more perfect ending to a perfectly delightfultrip.

Lots of Love,
